What if my child must be absent from school?
Attendance in school is extremely important to a student’s success. Stockbridge Valley places great importance on student attendance. In order to promote good attendance in all classes, the following policy has been adopted:
“Students who have acquired ten or more unexcused/illegal absences in a full credit class or five or more in a half credit class will be denied credit in that class. When a student is absent or tardy an excuse must be turned in to the Nurse’s office no later than three days after the student returns to school. If an excuse is not brought in during this time period, the absence will be counted as an unexcused/illegal absence.
Punctuality is also important in the success of our students. If a student arrives after 8:13 a.m. the student will be counted as tardy for his/her first block. Students must turn in excuses for class tardiness as well as absences. If a student acquires three or more tardies in one class, they will be counted as one absence.”
