    Abbott & Fenner Scholarship Program

    AES Engineers Scholarship

    The consulting firm of AES Engineers is committed to continuing its support of higher education by providing scholarships to deserving students.
    To be eligible the student needs to answer one of the essay questions that they will find on our site at
    Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluating the essays that are submitted.

    The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program
    Students must prepare an oration on some aspect of the Constitution of the United States with emphasis on the duties and obligations of a citizen of our government. The same subject and oration used in the county, district, and zone contests must be used in the department and national contest. The prepared oration must be the original effort of each contestant and must not take up less than eight minutes or more than 10 minutes for delivery. This contest is open to students grades 9 - 12 and could get up to $18,000 at the national level. Please see Mrs. Gleason if you are interested by November 1st, 2016. 



    American Society of Military Comptrollers

    This scholarship program recognizes graduating seniors for Academic Achievement to provide financial assistance to seniors so that they may accomplish their future financial management educational goals and to increase local ASMC Chapter scholarship programs.  Scholarship Application Forms are located in the Guidance Office in the Scholarship Binder.

    • Applicants must be an outstanding graduating high school senior in the final half of his/her school year or a high school graduate within six months of the application deadline.
    • Applicants must be entering a field of study directly related to financial/resource management (business administration, economics, public administration, computer science, operations research related to financial management, accounting, finance)  Applications that do not fall within these fields will not be considered.
    • Applications must be submitted on the current official ASMC Scholarship form.  Incomplete applications or submissions that do not follow the submission criteria will not be processed.
    • Applicants must have two letters of recommendation from: (1) high school principal or school counselor and (1) from a high school teacher.
    • Applications will include only the information requested in the application.
    • Application packets will be stapled in the top left hand corner and not other binding is permitted.
    • Deadline for submission is February 28, 2015


    Andrew D. Rossetti Scholarship Fund

    Awards will be made to students who demonstrate academic excellence, service to community and school, outstanding character and have shown significant academic improvement during the course of high school.  There will be two scholarships in the amount of $2500 each.  This award is for a student who is entering an accredited teacher training program in September 2014.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office or you may download them at

    Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York, Inc 
    There are 4 scholarships valued at $1500 to students that are related to a firefighter, are a firefighter, or are an explorer in a fire department or district, that is a current paid member in good standing of the association of fire districts of the state of New York.     AXA Achievement Scholarship

    The AXA Achievement Scholarship awards $670,000 worth of scholarships each year.  To qualify, you must demonstrate ambition, drive, determination to set and reach goals, respect for self, family and community and the ability to succeed in college.  Please go to to learn more about all of the scholarship programs.  You may also download the application.  Apply by December 15, 2016. 

    There are 10 - $25,000 National winners, 42 - 10,000 State winners, and 300 - $2,500 community winners. There has been over $25 million awarded to more than 6,000 students!



    Big Sun Scholarship

    An annual award of $500 will be offered to a senior student athlete.  Please visit  to apply.  Students must answer an essay question (located on the website) and be a high school senior who is attending a post secondary institute.  All student athletes are eligible regardless of what sport they play.  Application deadline is June 20, 2014


    Central New York Air and Waste Management Association (AWMA) Scholarship

    Graduating high school students and current college students are eligible for scholarship grants of up to $1,000.  Eligibility Criteria includes: High school graduates entering college or current college students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate level programs.  Applicants must be enrolled in a degree track related to the environment; some examples include, but are not limited to: Environmental Engineering; Civil Engineering; Chemical Engineering; Hydrogeology; Biology or Microbiology; Environmental Law.  Applicants do not have to be AWMA members or a relative of a member.  Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student (12 credit hours or more) for the Fall of 2012.  Applicants must be residents of or going to a college in Central New York region.  Applications are available in the SVCS Guidance Office.  Applications must be postmarked by February 10, 2012. 


    The Syracuse Chapter of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter Scholarship:

    The Syracuse Chapter of the CPCU Society is pleased to accept scholarship applications from high school seniors who are planning to go to college to pursue a career in the insurance industry as listed: Career options ranging from trainee to management levels in the medical legal, computer, architectural, actuarial, administrative, marketing, engineering and financial fields provide opportunities without limits.     Cornell Cooperativve Extension of Oneida County's Memorial Scholarship Program

    Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County is pleased to announce its Memorial Scholarship Program. One five-hundred dollar or two two-hundred dollar awards will be made to graduating seniors who have been accepted to a college level program.

    Criteria include that they be a graduating seniot, have been actively involved in Oneida County 4-H for a period of at least three consecutive years and be accepted ino a two or four year college, trade, technical or business school.

    Application adn information are abailable on line at but interested students can also directly contact Cornell Cooperative Extension at 736-3394 X 108 for an application. Completed applications are due by April 4, 2013 with interviws the week of May 9th and the decision to be announced the weel of May 13th, 2013. These awards are made available through the Mary Planow, Shirley Nuessel, Kresse-Field, Melissa Vaill, and Alberta Schallenberg Scholarship Funds.


    Edward "Ned" Carter Scholarship

    There are 4 $1,500 scholarships to New York State High School Seniors who will be graduating in June of 2015.  The student must be related to or be a Firefighter in an affiliated member organization of the Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York and must reside within New York State.  These scholarships are named in memory of past President Edward "Ned" Carter and all deceased past presidents of the State Association.  In keeping with Ned's life of community service and dedication to helping others, these awards will be presented to young people who will be pursuing a post secondary career in the Community Service related areas of endeavor (i.e. fire service related major, nursing, social work, health related services, teaching, librarian) at either a two or four year college next year.  Applications will be available online on the associations website or in the Guidance Office.  To be considered for this honor, applications must be postmarked by the first Saturday in March (March 7, 2015) and mailed to:

    Empire State Potato Grower's, Inc. Scholarship Fund

    This scholarship is for students enrolling in an undergraduate program, residing in New York State, pursuing college studies in New York State and benefiting the agricultural industry.  This scholarship is valued at $500 per academic year, for up to 4 consecutive years of undergraduate education.  Full-time academic study in the field of agriculutre must be pursued.  Completed Applications must be postmarked on or before January 15, 2015 to be considered.  Selection will be based on the following criteria:

    First Source Federal Credit Union 2013 Scholarship

    Founded as Utica Teachers FCU, we at First Source understand and appreciate the value of our local educational system.  True to our educational roots, our objective is to promote our local schools and offer aid to students in achieving their educational goals.  The scholarship is open to all members that will be enrolling full-time to one of the six eligible schools in the fall.  Eligible schools include: Hamilton College, Herkimer County Community College, Mohawk Valley Community College, SUNY IT, Utica College and USC the Business College.  Copies of college acceptance letters, transcripts, essays and letters of reference are required along with the completed application form.  Applications are avaliable in the Guidance Office.  Applications must be returned to First Source Federal Credit Union and received no later than May 1, 2013 for consideration.  Remember to include all required paper work and mail it to:

    GPO Federal Credit Union Scholarship

    The GPO Federal Credit Union and the Credit Union Association of New York is giving you a chance at $1000, $500 and $300 Scholarships!  The GPO is presenting college bound high school seniors the opportunity to compete statewide for scholarship to either a two or four year accredited educational institution.  It is a simple 3 step process.

    Step 1: Stop into a GPO Branch Office to request a scholarship application form.  You can find branch locations online at If the student is not yet a member of the GPO Federal Credit Union, they must join prior to submitting an application. You may also find a copy of the application in the guidance office.

    Step 2: Complete the application form, write an essay and obtain the required test transcripts along with the signature of the student's parent/guardian.

    Step 3: Return the completed form to any GPO Federal Credit Union Branch no later than December 15, 2016 (New Hartford, Utica, Oneida, Ilion, Dodgeville, St. Lukes Hospital)

    There is no fee for submitting the application, but those students applying must be a member in good standing at GPO, MUST be a college bound high school senior at the time of application to either a 2 or 4 year institution and they must be attending college for the first time in the fall of 2017.  Winners will be announced in Spring 2017.

    Ithaca Park Scholar Award

    This award is given to a student who has been accepted to Ithaca College in the Roy H. Park School of Communications. Applicants must be planning on majoring in a field of study in Media which include Cinema and Photography, Communication Management and Design, Documentary Studies and Production, Emerging Media, Film, Photography and Visual Arts, Integrated Marketing Communications, Journalism, and Television-Radio.

    There is no fee for submitting an application.     Jean M. Coon Award

    This award is given for outstanding community service. Please note that academic achievement is not a factor in selecting a winner.  Nominees must be high school juniors or seniors.  The club presents a monetary award of $250 in May.  All applications must be postmarked by March 8, 2013.  For applications please stop into the Guidance office!



    Mohawk Regional Dietetic Assoication Annual Scholarship

    This annual scholarship is for future and current Dietetic/Nutrition Care students.  Applicants must reside in the Mohawk Region to include the counties of Chenango, Delaware, Hamilton, Herkimer, Lewis, Madison, Oneida and Otsego.  The 2 or 4 year program must be accredited by the American Dietetic Association.  the amount offered in the scholarship is $500.  The letter of acceptance into the college or proof of enrollment must be submitted to receive the monetary award.  The scholarship will be awarded based on academics, honors, work experience and interest in dietetics.  Applications are ONLINE at and click on "Links" to find the scholarship information.  Applications are due by May 17, 2013.  Applications need to be sent to:

    National Multiple Sclerosis Society- Upstate NY Chapter

    Each year the National MS Society awards scholarships to highly qualified students.  To be eligible, applicants are individuals with MS or who have a parent with MS and will be attending an accredited post secondary school for the first time.  Scholars are selected based on academic performance, leadership and participation in schol or community activities, compelling personal or family circumstances, financial need and other criteria.  Scholarship awards range from $1,000-$3,000.  The application deadline is January 15, 2015.  Scholarship applications can be obtained at


    New York Water Environment Association- Central Chapter Scholarship Fund

    Graduating high school students may be eligible for scholarship grants of $1,500 or more.  In order to be eligible students must be entering a college enrolled in undergraduate level programs; enrolled in a degree track related to the environment such as biology, chemistry, engineering etc; applicants do not have to be NYWEA members or a relative of a member; must be enrolled as a full-time student (12 credit hours or more) for the Fall 2014 semester at a 4 year college or university.  Applications are in the Guidance Office.  Completed applications must be received no later than February 10, 2015.


    Oneida Area Civic Chorale Scholarship

    This scholarship will be awarded to a local high school senior who has shown outstanding achievement in music, has participated in school and community performances and plans to continue musical study as a major or in extra-curricular activities.  Applications are avaliable in the SVCS Counseling Office.  Applications must be complete to be considered, you must submit a performance tape/cd displaying solo and/or ensemble achievements, a short written description of how the award money will be used and a letter of recommendation from your music teacher.  All application materials must be received by the Oneida Area Civic Chorale on or before April 1, 2013.  Late applications will not be considered.  An interview with selected candidates may be requested before a final decision is made.


    Parentinn – Cyberbullying Prevention for Teens Scholarship

    In an effort to the cause of preventing cyberbullying, we have created the “Cyberbullying Prevention for Teens Scholarship” for High school students.

    Price Chopper Scholarship

    Syracuse Track Club- Constantino Scholarships

    The Syracuse Track Club is pleased to announce the availability of two $1000 scholarships awarded to needy and deserving male and female High school seniors who participate in their school's cross country and/or track and field teams.  Eligible students must reside in Onondaga, Cayuga, Cortland, Madison or Oswego counties.  STC membership is not required.  Scholarships are given in memory of George Constantino, long time coach at Nottingham High School and founder of the Syracuse Track Club.  To apply: Submit a letter describing your academic, extra-curricular and running achievements, financial need and plans for a running career beyond high school.  Include letters of recommendation from a teacher and a coach.   Transcripts are not required.  Deadline is June 1, 2014.   Send to: Bruce Laidlaw; P.O.     Wendy's High School Heisman Scholarship

    This award honors both male and female high school students who excel in academics, athletics and student leadership.  This scholarship wants to hear from all student and will be judged on their academic achievements, athletic accomplishments, community leadership and involvement in various extra-curricular activities.  Eligibility for the applicant include: male or female entering their senior year of high school in the 2012-2013 school year who have at least a "B" average and participate in at least one school sponsored sport.  Applications are due by October 2nd, 2012 by 5:00pm Central Standard Time.   Each applicant must have their application review and confirmed online by a school representative (school counselor) by October 2, 2012 (5:00pm Central Standard Time).  Please click on the link below to apply!
