Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Corey Graves
I am a proud graduate from Stockbridge Valley Class of 1998. I continued my education at SUNY Morrisville and received an A.S in Sports Nutrition & Fitness Management. I then transferred to SUNY Cortland where I completed my B.S in Physical Education and M.S in Health Education. I began teaching at SVCS in 2005. The fact that Stockbridge Valley is a small district has given me the rare opportunity to work with and get to know all students from grade K-12. The purpose of PE is to physically educate, by combining cognitive thinking skills and physical movement. I believe that Physical Education is an essential component within a school. We combine knowledge and understanding of anatomical and physiological structure and function, the ability to develop skills, make and apply decisions, develop physical and mental capacity to succeed, evaluate and improve performance, and most importantly promote and understand the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle.
Since I began teaching at Stockbridge Valley I have also had the privilege to coach a variety of athletic teams. These include:
- Boys Modified Soccer
- Boys JV Basketball
- Girls Modified Volleyball
- Boys Varsity Baseball
My Interest and Hobbies:
When I am not preparing for class or practice, I enjoy training for marathons and triathlons.
