Curriculum

Curriculum

The academic program is organized on a modified block schedule. Using a two-day schedule, students take at minimum six 83-minute classes and one 40 minute class. All courses are year-long, each class meets every other day. Students have the opportunity to accelerate in math beginning in grade 8.

These dual credit courses are offered: Horticulture Practices, Animal Science and Industry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Academic Writing II, Approaches to Literature, Food Service Preparation I, American National Government, Principals of Chemistry I and II, Beginning Spanish II, Introduction to Anthropology Cultural Anthropology, Introduction to Sociology, Advanced US History 101 and 102. Dual credit courses are offered through Tompkins Cortland Community College, Morrisville, and Syracuse University Project Advance. Students also have the opportunity to take courses on a college campus through MVCC College Connections or Colgate University Community Scholars Program. Students could potentially receive 56 college credits by their high school graduation. 

 

Grading and Ranking

Stockbridge Valley grades on a 0 - 100 scale. Class ranking will be based on all high school credit bearing courses. A minimum of 22 credits is required for graduation. Grades are recorded on the transcript and GPA is computed in June.
