Mr. Peto

Welcome to 3rd grade.  For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Chris Peto (I’m pretty easy to find since I am the only male elementary teacher on the lower floor).  Here is a little background on myself.  I was born and raised in Watertown, NY.  I went on to earn a bachelors degree in Sociology and Elementary Education from SUNY Potsdam.  I also have a Masters Degree in Literacy Education from SUNY Cortland.

I have been at Stockbridge Valley since 1999.  I taught Kindergarten for four years and this is my 13th year as a Third Grade Teacher.  It is hard to believe that this is my seventeenth year.  My final Kindergarten class graduated last year.  How time flies.  Throughout my tenure here I have also coached many of our athletic teams:  Boys modified soccer, basketball, and baseball.  I also coached girls modified soccer and was the Girls Varsity Basketball coach for 7 years.  I am currently in my 12th season as Girls JV Soccer coach and in my 15th year as the Girls Varsity Softball coach.  This makes for an extremely busy, yet fulfilling year.  I am now beginning to see the children of kids I coached in high school bringing their kids to school and even have some in my class.  That used to make me feel old, however I am now getting to the point in my career that I will soon be seeing the children of students I actually taught walking through these doors.  At that point I am going to feel REALLY old.  I am very proud to be a part of the Stockbridge Valley community and have a special place in my heart for this community and the people who make it so special.  I am looking forward to a great year.
