    Dear SVCS Students and Families,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I am growing increasingly excited to work with all of the students, their families, the Board of Education, the SVCS staff, and the community to continue last year’s work of making SVCS an excellent place to learn and grow. I am looking forward to some new course offerings including Residential Maintenance, Introduction to Programming, and Musical Theater. For our students who are heading down the college path, a multitude of college credit courses have been built into the schedule, including Environmental Science, Syracuse University Project Advance U.S. History, Animal Science, Sociology, and U.S. Government. For our students who are headed for work through a career and technical education field, we are in the planning stages of a new Work-Based Learning Program featuring internships and hands-on education through on-the-job training.

As we enter our new school year, we are closely looking at programs and policies that will propel our students to meet their fullest potential. For the mental health of our students and the academic excellence with which we strive to achieve as a district, we are looking into reviewing our cell phone policy. If you would like to be part of the conversation, I anticipate the committee will be creating a community survey with which to share your viewpoint. We welcome and value any input you are willing to share with us.

It is my hope that this school year for each and every student and staff member will be one of growth and success. I am committed to this educational journey with our students and I want to thank you all for sharing your children with me as we embark on a school year of excellence, commitment, accountability, communication, and achievement.

    Warmest Regards,

    Lisa Hopkins
