The Day Heroes Were Made - Lessons on 911

Stockbridge Valley Central School students and staff observed a moment of silence today at 8:46 a.m. That was the moment when the first terrorist-hijacked plane struck the north tower of the Twin Towers in New York City, 17 years ago.
Stockbridge students are learning about the events of September 11th, from their parents, through the website and in their classrooms. In Mr. Healy’s 8th grade Social Studies class, his students were asked to interview five people who were alive during 9/11. Mr. Healy will be studying this topic more in depth in the spring.
In Mrs. Laraby and Mrs. Spinella’s 4th grade classroom, students had the opportunity to watch a brain pop video explaining the events of September 11th. “We are taking the events of that day and turning them into something positive, by making paper bag books, called ‘The day hero’s were made’," said Mrs. Laraby. Students will be working on these books all week long.
